My name is Ian, and I'm here to write stories. Most of the content on this site is practice scenes and vignettes, but I've got a few short stories in the works, as well as a novel. I'm still very much an amateur writer, but I believe that by letting others read my work I can find my style and start to write stories that others truly enjoy. Why I Write

As a lifelong reader, I've long thought that books were magic. Just by reading someone else's words I could experience incredible new worlds as if I was there. I could smell the meat roasting over a campfire, taste the raspberry cordial poured at a feast, or feel the chill of the air as I flew through the clouds. I could feel the warmth of love blossoming between two characters, or the sting of loss when one made the ultimate sacrifice.

All of these things were shared with me by someone simply picking up a pen and scribbling on a piece of paper.

Nowadays, I find myself holding the pen (or keyboard in my case). All of those stories turned out to be seeds planted within me, slowly growing in the soil of my psyche while I watered them with my own life experiences. Finally, those seeds began to sprout and bloom, creating new worlds, new characters, and new adventures that had yet to be told. Writing is my way of scratching the itch caused by having these stories inside me.

My hope is that by sharing these stories with you I can enrich your life in the way the stories of others have enriched mine. At the very least, I hope you find them entertaining, a welcome distraction from the troubles of the world. I also hope that my stories make you view the world in a new light, inspiring introspection that leads you towards living a truer life.

But perhaps my greatest aspiration is that my stories plant the seeds of creation in your mind. I hope they inspire you to create art, music, literature, or whatever your heart desires. I believe that it's in our nature to create, and that the act of doing so leads us to living our best lives.
